This program is: open on a limited basis Democratic Republic of Congo prohibits adoption to any person with a history of child abuse, or with intent to marry the child. Couples must be married 5 years, may not adopt more than 3 children, or have more than 2 children when they adopt. Adoptive parent(s) must be 15 years older than intended adoptee unless the adoptee is a biological child of one of the parents. There is no age limit or medical ineligibility for adoptive parents. 133 children were adopted from the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2011 .
